Important Safety Warnings

  • E4 and E5 (gas valve faults) and F2 (runaway heat) are safety-critical — stop use immediately.
  • Always attempt a circuit breaker reset before calling a technician for any F or E code.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Step 1: Record the Code Exactly

Write down the exact code as shown. F1 and E1 are completely different faults. Note what you were doing when it appeared (baking, self-clean, idle, etc.).

2

Step 2: Determine Severity

F2 (runaway heat), E4/E5 (gas valve) = stop use immediately. All others = power reset first, then observe.

3

Step 3: Full Power Reset

Turn the range off. Go to the electrical panel and turn off the circuit breaker dedicated to the range. Wait 5–10 minutes, then restore and restart the appliance.

4

Step 4: Monitor After Reset

Run the appliance through a full cycle — preheat, hold, and cool. If the code does not return in 2–3 uses, it was likely a transient electronic fault.

5

Step 5: Call a Technician if Persistent

A code that returns after a proper reset cycle indicates a mechanical or electronic component fault requiring professional diagnosis.

La Cornue Error Code Categories

La Cornue electronic control systems use two series of fault codes — F-series for oven functions and E-series for burner and broader system issues — plus several status codes that are informational rather than error-based.

F-Series: Oven System Faults

  • F0: Control board general fault or communication error
  • F1: RTD temperature sensor open circuit (faulty or disconnected sensor)
  • F2: Runaway temperature — oven exceeded safe limit. Stop use immediately.
  • F3: RTD temperature sensor short circuit
  • F5: Door lock motor fault (during or after self-clean)
  • F6: Control board internal fault
  • F7: Keypad/touchpad assembly fault
  • F9: Door position sensor fault / door not closing fully

E-Series: Burner & System Faults

  • E0: Ignition timeout — gas present but no ignition after timeout period
  • E1–E5: Individual burner ignition circuit faults
  • E4/E5: Gas valve fault — stop use, call technician
  • E6: Bake element fault (CornuFe)
  • E7: Broil element fault (CornuFe)
  • E8–E10: Control board power supply faults
  • E11–E12: Steam function faults (steam-assist models)
  • E13–E14: Burner flame sensor circuit faults
  • E15: Pyrolytic element fault

Status Codes (Not Errors)

  • CLN: Self-clean cycle in progress
  • COOL: Post-self-clean cooling — door locked until this clears
  • LOC: Control lock is active
  • PF: Power failure detected (recent power outage)
  • HI: Oven temperature is above the set point — cooling down
